Flower Care Guide

Flowers are a living piece of nature and require some essential hygiene practices to improve their vase life. We recommend the following generally, however, each species andtheir varieties often have individual requirements.

We want you maximize the pleasure of having flowers around, so here are some tips to extend its lifespan:

HAND-TIED BOUQUETS

If your flowers are delivered in a bouquet, i.e wrapped in cellophane with
water on the ends:

• Remove packaging and trim the stems.
• Cut approximately 1 cm from the ends of the stems at an angle.
• Fill your vase to 3/4 full with fresh tap water (except with tulips only 1/4).
• Add flower food to prolong the life of your flowers (except with tulips).
• Always follow exactly the guidelines written on the back of the food sachet.
• Remove any foliage which lies beneath the water as they will cause bacteria to grow in the water.
• Place flowers in a cool and dry location away from direct sunlight, heat and direct AC.
• To refresh flowers after 2-3 days, remove any drooping flowers or foliage, re-cut the stems and replace the fresh water.

HATBOX ARRANGEMENTS

If your flower arrangement has a floral foam such as hatbox, letter
arrangements, etc:

• Do a daily check on the floral foam and make sure it is moist.
• Pour adequate water directly into the foam in case it has become dry, but be careful not to add too much water as the box might get damaged.
• Place flowers in a cool and dry location away from direct sunlight, heat and direct AC.

ORCHIDS

• Place the orchids in a bright place, near the window, but away from direct sunlight as it burns their leaves easily.
• Water it when it begins to dry out (usually every 7 to 10 days).
• Do not overwater as it can possibly rotten the roots.
• To prolong flowering, remove faded flowers and leaves.
• You may feed your orchids with liquid plant fertilizer fortnightly.
• Place flowers in a cool and dry location away from direct sunlight, heat and direct AC.
